LTCI NOW: Frequently Asked Questions
Q: Is the dosing per size of the cat?
A: No, one dose is for all size cats.
Q: Should or can you give LTCI to your cat even though they don’t have symptoms?
A: This is a good question, and one that should be addressed with your veterinarian to determine the best long term management strategy. LTCI is labeled for cats diagnosed with FIV and FeLV, and may be given to cats that do not currently have clinical signs.
Q: How much is LTCI?
A: Pricing can be obtained through your veterinarian.
Q: Can or should LTCI be used with Interferon?
A: This is a very common question. We are not able to discuss the use of non-approved treatments, such as interferon, for use in cats. LTCI remains the only conditionally approved product in the United States.
Q: If my cat tests negative after the treatments. Do I still need to give LTCI injections? If so how often?
A: This is a question for your veterinarian, and they are welcome to call IMULAN and personally discuss this with our staff veterinarians. Keep in mind, there are a variety of diagnostic tools used for screening for FeLV and FIV and our veterinary experts will be glad to address these situations with your veterinarian.
Q: After the first 3 months of injections, is that it or do more need to be given later? What is the time frame if they are given later?
A: FeLV and FIV are very complex diseases and each case should be managed according to your veterinarian's instructions. Continued treatment depends on a variety of factors which cannot be adequately addressed without a case consultation. Fortunately, our staff veterinarians are willing to discuss these options with your veterinarian. You can also refer to the recommended treatment instructions on our website.
